Here's Your Purpose
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom...with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
A couple months ago I listen to a podcast by Louie Giglio and I haven't stopped thinking about it. (Honestly, I think every Christian should listen to it.)
We like to compartmentalize our lives. We have work, home, church, kids, and the list goes on and on. That's all fine and well but what if it was never meant to be separated. What if we were given this one life...as a whole.
We were given our dreams and our spouse. Our home life and our church family.
What if your job could be a blessing to your family, to you, to those in your church? What if we really did place the priority of knowing Jesus and making Him known through our ENTIRE lives (hint: this is your purpose).
After all, He gave your dreams, talents, work, and passions.
In Louie's sermon, he talks about leveraging your passion for the sake of that purpose. As Christians, we should be excellent at the things we've been blessed with. Good stewards of the things we have been given.
This means we do things with excellence, with strength and wisdom from Him. We look different because our lens and purpose are different.
This doesn't mean we can't have a bad day, but it does mean we do things differently. We prioritize what should be prioritized in our lives, we work hard at our jobs, and love those around us. Rise above the work gossip, the entrepreneur competition, and the self deprecating talk.
"WHATEVER you do..." This doesn't allow us to compartmentalize what we will do well for the Lord. We do it all for Him.
What is your “whatever”?
